If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make weekly "comedy" videos every Sunday evening. As an American living in London I love noticing the funny differences between the cultures and one of my most popular video series is my British VS American one. I'm also known for making terrible puns so sorry in advance. Hope to see you around, and I'll see you next Sunday! :)
If you want to know HOW I make my videos including gear, lighting, all the tiddly bits that connect it all together, (with cheaper alternatives and kit I used to use), I've listed each item, what it's great at, and why I use it on the gear section of my website here:
www.evanedinger.com/blog/my-gear
Otherwise: here's a quick list of some of my kit without descriptions from the above link:
Camera: Sony A7siii

We had ten days in London so we spent 7 of them doing all kinds of stuff but then 3 we did themed days. One day was a music theme so we went around doing all things music I started out the day early (so as to annoy as few commuters as possible) visiting Abbey road and since it has a live feed I paid for someone's tea and they screenshot my journey across and back and they emailed them to me. It was great fun. They thought it was so funny they had me do the same. Then I found and set up my own whole London underground punk, queen Beatles etc touristy day and had the biggest blast ever. It was amazing. One of us was really into museums so we had one free museum day and we hit as many free museums as possible that we hadn't been to yet. Theme days are a blast. You should challenge yourself to one and see what you can find that you haven't seen before

You're quite dismissive about this problem. It is good to debate but I theres a lot more to this than being dismissive to the "this isn't luxury", "dumb assfuck","we would have houstin texas". You bring it back to you as well, "I didnt have to drive.. so most people musn't have to either". That is not an objectively shared lifestyle im sorry. People with disabilities may require automobiles and thus parking..It's just not consistent with what you say. There is a struggle with finding a balance between having things too regulated (this drives up cost when you have so many planning or whomever comments for how things should be) and ensuring utilitarian. This is hard to do. this is the challenge in city planning everywhere. I am a City Planner and have worked in both the municipal and development side. I have seen the costs and know the exact things we regulate. Texas, while I have never been there myself, is a great case study of a city that takes a more lasseiz fairt approach. Not regulating every little thing (they still have regulation procedures!). Compared to where I am currently located (somewhere in canada), things can get so expensive and unnecessarily restrictive with all the very little mnay things that are regulated (where a fence can go can spend months to just get approved because it goes back and forth). Requiring people to have a certain standard of house or building (either looks or quality) does not allow for creativity all the time to solve problem and instead makes things really expensive. It doesnt allow people to adapt, it forces them, even when they can't. I have more points but I will stop here.

The Globe's wood is old??? Um literally no. Seeing as the original Globe was built in 1576 then dismantled and moved across the Thames, the second Globe Burned down in 1613 and then the third Globe was torn down in 1644, I highly doubt any of it is material from the 17th century. I doubt it even more because the _Modern_ Globe theater didn't finish construction and open until mid-1997!! The Globe's current iteration is younger than me, like stop!! Also like the original London bridge, the one that was there for 130 years is literally in Lake Havasu City, Arizona right now. The street still exists and the physical location of the bridge is shifted over a little bit, but that one wasn't a thing until the 70s.

London’s weather is hit and miss. It’s never extreme like other places around the world but it is changeable. Today was a beautiful day in London with sunshine but unfortunately for you Evan it was dreary and dull the day you chose to film your video. That’s how it is, London’s weather is unpredictable. Without sounding disrespectful, as a Londoner myself, I did feel your two friends didn’t like London that much or appreciate its value. And I wonder, in all honesty why did they visit, when so many people enjoy visiting London.

I was curious to see how you'd achieve showing them London in a day. Sightseeing London isn't as fun as expereicing London but within 24 hours you don't have time to actually do the things you see, so I think you did a great job, especially with the wet weather potentially dampening the day !

Luxury is a sure sign of shite quality. It's a word used by builders that want to charge top dollar for the lowest quality components put together by someone that doesn't know what they're doing or have the time to do it right even if they do. This plague of "luxury" needs to die but customers keep buying this nonsense because they think granite countertops and fancy-ish tiles are luxurious. Luxury to me is a home that won't fall apart in a year due to the shoddy construction and sub-par materials used. We need starter homes in the US and UK more than anything else. Homes built decently with quality materials, not necessarily the most fancy but quality, that will last for decades. Homes have become investments built very poorly so investors can bilk the masses multiple times for the same shitty property.

I don't call it "beef mince", I call it "minced beef". I don't buy it very often though. Is "gold top" milk a good substitute for half and half? I expect half and half would be a bit creamier, but gold top would be a lot closer than standard "blue top" whole milk.

As someone preparing to be a tour guide in London I appreciate some of the new ideas I wouldn’t have thought about in this video… HOWEVER! You missed a trick by not knowing the ghost story of cock lane! A lady named Fanny who rented a place on the lane died under mysterious circumstances many years ago and she was blamed for the strange scratching that people were hearing in her old flat. This the beginning of the legend of scratching Fanny of cock lane It’s a real ghost story and probably one of the most famous of London

If its an office building conversion, check to see that your walls go all the way up to the actual ceiling and don't just disappear above a drop ceiling. In 99% of office spaces, the walls are not load bearing and so do not extend to the ceiling but only as high as the fake drop ceiling, which means dear friends that no only can you hear your neighbors, they only need a ladder to enter your apartment.

I have been to all of the places you got to. But then I was born there and spent 30 years, on and off, wandering around. Sometimes in the rain. The Royal Persons didn't like Buck Place, so don't bother. Somerset House could replace it. Lots of stuff there; the courtyard used to be a car park for the tax authorities. They have been evicted.

I have a new, as in 2 weeks ago, favourite thing to do in London. We had a few hours there after flying into Stansted and wanted to show a few things to the kids. All the main things had massively increased in price - £130 for 2 adults 2 children. Except the ferry along the Thames that had proportionality reduced in price. So I really do recommend an Uber Ferry from Tower Bridge to Westminster.

My terrarced house in Tooting is 120 years old, still has the original roof and is a joy to live in. Id be very surprised if any of the Barrat Boxes (etc) that have sprung up over the last 30 years are still inhabitable in 100 years. But In defense of the container village: houses are ultimately a result of the habits, lifestyles and cultural and social behaviour of the people who live there. Its not entirely the fault of the developers, if you treat your area like shit it will eventually be worth shit.
